Guilty plea in Ohio

A Berea-Midpark senior has pleaded guilty to charges relating to the sexual assault of several people during a football camp.

Jabriel Williams, 18, and three juveniles were charged for their alleged roles in an incident involving Berea-Midpark students at the football summer camp, according to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office.

The Cleveland Police Department’s Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit opened an investigation after receiving an anonymous tip about the assaults. Berea police and Case Western Reserve University police assisted Cleveland detectives with the investigation.

Nuwer was named the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists columnist of the year in 2021 for his “After Darke” column in the Early Bird. He and his wife Gosia, recently of Union City, Ind., have owned 20 acres in Alaska for many years. “The move is a sort-of coming home for us,” said Nuwer.
