Washoe County (Nevada) bans hazing in schools

Washoe County School Board Votes to Implement Hazing Ban

(Reno, NV) — The Washoe County School District is formally banning hazing. That’s after the Washoe County School Board unanimously passed a new policy on Tuesday. The policy is the same one many universities have, including the University of Nevada, Reno. It defines hazing as any activity that causes mental, emotional, and physical harm to a student that involves groups and organizations within the school district, including athletics. School Board President Beth Smith says the board needed to take a public position against hazing.
