Students charged for branding pledges
All:Â An arrest for branding pledges is very rare. In fact, I can’t think of a second one. Moderator.

HENNIKER, N.H. — Authorities in New Hampshire arrested seven students at New England College allegedly involved in hazing.
All seven students were victims in a hazing ceremony for initiation into Sigma Alpha Beta.
The fraternity has been under investigation since a hazing incident last fall involving branding, or burning, pledges.

HENNIKER, N.H. — Seven New England College students have been arrested on hazing charges linked to an incident last fall.
Henniker Police Chief Timothy Russell says the seven were pledges initiated into a fraternity. He said they were paddled by other fraternity members, who also threw food and cold water on them.
Russell anticipates charging others, including fraternity members who performed the hazing, and possibly older alumni who were there.
He said police learned of the hazing when investigating another, more serious incident, in which new fraternity members suffered serious chest burns while being branded. No arrests have been made in that incident, and police still are investigating.
