Message from activist Debbie Smith re Matt’s law, Calif.

Just minutes ago I received the word, Matt’s Law Senate Bill 1454, is being heard in the Assembly Public Safety next Tuesday, June 20 in Room 126 at 9am.
This is it – the news we have been waiting for.  This is the hearing where we need “A BIG TURNOUT” we need as many of you that can, to come in your red and show support for Matt’s Law.  I apologize for the lateness in the notice but as I said I just found out myself.
Please spread the word, this is very important! We have come too far, we need bodies on Tuesday so that we can make a much needed impression on the Assembly just as we did in the Senate.  Please don’t think because you are only one person that you won’t make a difference you can and will make a difference. Everyone makes a difference.

If you wouldn’t mind could you please reply back to me and let me know whether or not you will be able to attend this hearing?

Thank you everyone for your support, I hope to see a lot of you on Tuesday in your red with your Matt’s Badges on.  Don’t forget Matt Badges will be available at the Capitol in front of the Hearing Room 126.

On Monday, June 19 there will be a press conference at the Capitol if anyone is able to attend that would be great, details will follow when they are available.

Thank you again.

“Hug your children and tell them you love them everyday.”

Love,
Debbie, MM

Judge recuses himself in Stephen Petz case: address has changed

On June 1 the Mecosta County Prosecutors
Office notified the parents of hazing victim Stephen Petz that a convicted former fraternity member Robert Markhja of the Knights of College Leadership has filled a
petition to get his judgment set aside on his criminal record.

Ruth Petz adamantly opposes the setting aside of the conviction. “We are
trying to get as many people as possible to write in protest against having
his judgment set aside,” James and Stephen Petz have written Hank Nuwer, a columnist for stophazing.org and this blog’s moderator.
Should you wish too express your view to the magistrate, you may write a letter to

Mecosta County Building Prosecuting Attorney’s Office
Peter Jaklevic
400 Elm Street, Big Rapids, Michigan 49307.

Letters PREVIOUSLY written to Judge Scott Hill-Kennedy will not work. His honor has recused himself from intervening in this case. The new magistrate is the Hon. Judge Chamberlain of Detroit.
