The problem is that even the minor hazing in PRO hockey sends a message to high school and college athletes that hazing is all fun and games. But it is a start, and a start is a start is a start. On the other hand, this writer is editorializing that hazing, a crime, isn’t so bad if people cut down a bit. But then again, no one would say it is ok that someone shoplifts or only once in a while teases pets. I wish the writer would stick to facts instead of leading impressionable young readers to his own biases.
Here is the end of the odd but hardly unusual case where a prosecutor ends up dropping all charges after a community and nation are led to believe a serious incident occurred. The mishandling of the Carmel (IN) basketball case has been a public relations disaster for the community of Carmel.
