The New Orleans Saints, the team that once was humiliated under then-Coach Mike Ditka when rookies
Jeff Danish and Cam Cleveland were pummeled in a gang-like hazing, have begun the custom again in a minor way.
HAZY ON HAZING: Reggie Bush may have a new $62 million contract and the attention of the sporting world, but that doesn’t exempt him from rookie hazing.
The Saints’ top pick has been made to carry pads by his teammates and he had to perform a song recently for the veterans with the other rookies.
When asked about his performance, Bush showed his trademark elusiveness: “It was nothing special.”
He flashed an embarrassed grin as reporters prepared to ask for more details, at which point a New Orleans public relations deftly threw a block and ended Bush’s media session.
Update bulletin: Police today have said that hazing was not involved. I don’t have any other details as of this morning (Aug. 8).

Johnson County – Police in Johnson County are investigating an alleged assault by students at Center Grove High School.Eyewitness News partners at The Indianapolis Star report a 15-year-old freshman football player told police several of his teammates ganged up on him during football practice. The student said the boys kicked and punched him in the locker room and one teen even tried to sodomize him with a metal rod when his screams alerted coaches. School officials say they’re taking the allegations seriously and are investigating. We’ll have more on this story tonight on Eyewitness News at 5:00. An update will be added to this story later.
