Coaches charged – suspended: WBEN Buffalo update

Audio and text link: story follows

Lockport, NY (WBEN) – State Police have arrested two Wilson School baseball coaches in connection with a hazing investigation at the High School.

JV coach William Atlas and varsity coach Thomas Baia were arrested Tuesday night and charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Lt. Rick Allen says the charge comes from not controlling the players on the bus when the alleged hazing occurred.

They’ve been given appearance tickets and are to return to Wilson Town Court on May 8th at 7pm.

Allen says troopers notified the district of the arrests, and both Baia and Atlas have been suspended from their jobs as teachers effective immediately.
