Mikel Anthony Feick, 18, and Jacob Wayne Schliessman, 18, Nodaway Valley High School hazing incident resolved

GREENFIELD — Mikel Anthony Feick, 18, and Jacob Wayne Schliessman, 18, who were involved in a hazing incident at the Nodaway Valley High School around Dec. 19, 2011, plead guilty to lesser charges Tuesday.

Feick and Schliessman both entered guilty pleas to two counts of first-degree harassment each, counts one and two; two counts of serious assault each, counts three and four; and one simple misdemeanor each.

Feick and Schliessman were each sentenced to two years on counts one and two, one year on counts three and four, and 30 days in the Adair County Jail for the simple misdemeanor.

Nuwer was named the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists columnist of the year in 2021 for his “After Darke” column in the Early Bird. He also won third place for the column in 2022 from the Indiana chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. He and his wife Gosia, recently of Union City, Ind., have owned 20 acres in Alaska for many years. “The move is a sort-of coming home for us,” said Nuwer. As a journalist, he’s written about the Alaskan Iditarod sled-dog race and other Alaska topics.
