Opinion: Sgt. Carpenter case deserves court martial.

Opinion by Hank Nuwer

The father of a son who was slammed with a wooden mallet as his hazing wants a court martial with, upon conviction, a reduction in rank and the guardhouse for assault by Sgt. Steven D. Carpenter.

I concur.

All the good army military pronouncements failed to stop this beating of Phillip Roach or the suicide of Danny Chen.

A court martial is essential.

A $1,000 fine is ridiculously too little.
